Benson Vineyards sits high atop a hillside overlooking the pristine waters of Lake Chelan. Located on the bountiful north shore our grapevines are planted in sandy loam soil deposited by receding Cascade Mountain glaciers thousands of years ago. These glaciers provide us with the crystal clear water we irrigate our vines with today. The hot days and cool nights allow us to produce such a variety of wines! By 2002 we had planted 23 acres of vineyard to 10 different vinifera grape varieties. In 2004 the story really began with the first harvest! The winery is 100% estate, and currently has 7 red and 4 white varieties planted. It's not cliché, it is very true: Great wine starts in the vineyard!
